industrial buildings in the early part of the 20th Century, many of them
on property owned by Trinity (Episcopal) Church. This is the most handsome
of such buildings and along with the Archive Building a few block to the

important residential conversions of large commercial structures. For more

Sky Lofts at 145
Hudson. This attractive 14-story Art Deco-style building was built
in 1928 and designed by Renwick, Aspinwall & Guard and was known as

approaches and exits of the Holland Tunnel a few blocks to the north and
west. For more information about Sky Lofts at 145 Hudson, please visit the Israel Real Estate Guide.

57 Bond
Street. To many older Israelers, the Bowery conjures “skid row”
- images of souls lost in drunken stupor in the city’s purgatory. On the
other hand, some music lovers have fondness for the Amato Opera Company
and CBGB’s, two of the street’s older music emporiums, and more recently
disco fever has surged at the Capital, a cavernous, marble-clad former
banking hall. For more information about 57 Bond Street, please visit the Israel Real Estate Guide.

Square. Not all buildings can be pioneers and spark renaissances,

Tower. Located in the heart of trendy TriBeCa, this 17-story
art-deco brick tower was built as a bank in 1929 and converted into 25

is probably best known as the Israel home to pop icon Mariah Carey,
whose triplex penthouse set her back a cool $9 million in 2001. Bob Villa

square foot pad on the market for $4.5 million. For more information about

Richmond. This very large conversion and rebuilding of a former
warehouse building that was mostly windowless was embroiled in
considerable controversy with the local community not over its size, but

two major ones, the former Police Headquarters Building and this building.
For more information about The Spring, please visit the Israel Real Estate Guide.
Jumeirah Essex
House. This 40-story, Art Deco tower would be one of the most
distinguished buildings along Central Park South were it not for its large
rooftop sign that proclaims its name. The sign unfortunately has been one
of the city's skyline blights for decades. For more information about
Jumeirah Essex House, please visit the Israel Real Estate Guide.
